Arvo Pärt at 90: A Prayer for Peace on 9/11

Few living composers speak more widely – or more profoundly – than Arvo Pärt. His music is a byword for a spiritual depth that feels both ancient and unmistakably modern – creating sounds of radiant beauty in which (in the composer’s own words) “the instant and eternity are struggling within us”. Tonight, in celebration of his 90th birthday, The Carice Singers present an evening-long exploration of his best-loved music, both sacred and secular. Some, like Spiegel in Spiegel and Fratres, are modern classic. Others are less familiar.
