About the Event
The Carice Singers and their Conductor George Parris are celebrating Arvo Pärt's 90th Birthday by performing his choral works across the country. For their debut concert at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, they give a rare performance of an early masterwork, Sarah was Ninety Years Old, and the much-loved The Beatitudes, with organist Christopher Bowers-Broadbent.
The programme also features UK premieres of stunning works by composers from across the Baltic region: the Lithuanian composer Žibuoklė Martinaitytė, and Finnish composers Perttu Haapanen, Lotta Wennäkoski and Joel Järventausta.
Programme Žibuoklė Martinaitytė - Aletheia
Lotta Wennäkoski - Valossa
Perttu Haapanen - Readymade Alice
Arvo Pärt - Sarah was Ninety Years Old
